Suburban Research, LLC is a family owned title abstracting business with over 40 years of experience. Our substantial history coupled with our progressive vision give us a unique approach to the title insurance business.

 

Pete Romer, our founder, began Suburban Abstract Service in 1966 in Union County. When he started, searchers hand abstracted deeds and traced filed maps! Pete partnered with Bruce Egan in 1969. When Pete ventured out to Somerset County in 1974, Bruce stayed in Union County. They later opened two title insurance agencies and kept staff searchers in Union and Somerset Counties. Almost all Somerset County's independent searchers started their careers working for Pete and Bruce.

 

Allison Totams, Pete's step-daughter, took over the Somerset County abstracting business in 2005. She began emailing searches to improve service and expanded Suburban's reach to include Middlesex County. In 2010, Suburban Research began offering deed copies for purchase online by credit card.

 

We pride ourselves on our family history, our exceptional product and our courteous customer service. We constantly look for new ways to expedite our work and improve our service.
